System requirements for doHOOPS (all versions) and doUPLOAD
(If you're not in the United States, please click here
for additional information.)
- Operating system requirements and hardware requirements
- Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT.
- Windows Vista users -- doHOOPS runs well on Vista, but hasn't yet been specifically optimized for it. A Vista-specific version will be released as soon as possible. If you'd like more information about any known Vista issues, please contact us.
- Windows 98 and Windows ME users -- while doHOOPS will install and run on these operating systems, we recommend Windows XP for the best performance.
- Pentium 3 class upwards (the more processing power, the better).
- Minimum 128 MB RAM (the more RAM, the better).
- 90 MB available hard drive space (less if you don't install Speech Recognition features).
- Have a CD or DVD writable drive (or other storage device capability) to back up your doHOOPS database. This is especially important when you move to a new computer.
- Use a touchscreen or a mouse with your laptop, if possible. (Track-pads or other laptop pointing devices are fine, too, if you're comfortable using them at the fast pace of a basketball game.)
- If you're using doHOOPS on a laptop or other PC that runs on batteries, please use long-lasting batteries and/or have a spare battery available.
- Requirements for Speech Recognition features
- Microsoft Internet Explorer® 5.5 (or a later version) must be installed on your computer.(Check Micosoft's website to learn about downloading Internet Explorer, if needed.)
- Most sound cards and sound devices are supported; please test the Speech Recognition features during your trial period to be sure that your particular system is compatible with the doHOOPS speech features.
- Laptops have more internal noise than desktop computers (the amount can vary from brand to brand and model to model. Since the amount of internal noise produced by a laptop can slow down speech recognition slightly, we suggest you thoroughly test-drive doHOOPS with the laptop you plan to use.
- A high-quality HEADSET microphone with noise filters is ESSENTIAL. We recommend a Speech Recognition Certified microphone. (A privacy shield may also be helpful, if available.) You can use a lower-quality microphone for initial testing--but it won't be able to give you predictable results in the noisy environment of a basketball game.
- Don't run any other software using Speech Recognition while you're running doHOOPS.
